Close to Care, Close to Hope: The Home Away From Home Program
Every child deserves a safe and supportive space while undergoing cancer treatment a place that feels like home.
The Home Away From Home Program, by Childhood Cancer International and Foundation S, is a new initiative aiming to decrease treatment abandonment of children and adolescents with cancer. The program provides essential accommodation and associated services for children and adolescents with cancer and their families/caregivers.
The program was launched in 2024:
22 eligible applications were received
18 countries submitted proposals
3 new homes were supported: Bolivia, Zambia, and Malaysia

A home close to care can be the difference between abandonment and treatment completion. With every new house, CCI and its partners bring children and families one step closer to healing physically, emotionally, and with dignity.
